My first source: https://www-cambridge-org.proxy.lib.uiowa.edu/core/journals/american-political-science-review/article/socratic-method-and-political-science/63928BEDD4903EFB1197C2A76577A876

This article would be a academic paper considering he uses certain words that the general public don't really understand. The author doesn't explain the words he uses like quantifiability or Methodism. He goes throughout the paper just describing his whole point at the beginning, but then also he includes in the middle his sources that he is looking at, then ends off with the rephrase of the whole paper. He uses APA and also he uses page numbers/ volume number to explain. I would use this source to explain how I can use different words and definitions in text.

Second source: journals.sagepub.com.proxy.lib.uiowa.edu/doi/pdf/10.1260/0958-305X.25.6-7.1177

This source would be a academic paper considering they use a lot of in text citations, including a larger vocabulary of words. The author also uses an abstract and figures to explain his research. When the author uses some of his ways to back up his statements he uses the figure to help provide more evidence. He talks about his point throughout the whole paper, and definitely provides a large amount of research shown throughout the article. I would use this paper as a way of seeing how you can not just use in text citations but also use figures or graphics to explain your point.

Third source: https://onlinelibrary-wiley-com.proxy.lib.uiowa.edu/doi/full/10.1111/ajps.12176

The genre of this paper would be academic considering the authors use a lot of ways to cite their sources. On the first page you have the abstract then right after the abstract you can see them starting off with a paragraph about the claim their making and why. The authors also include chapters or titles to really nail in what they are going for or talking about. The word choice is also a large percentage of why this would be an academic paper, they use words that the general public probably won't understand. This article will be good to use for the purpose of trying to figure out how and when to write in headers/chapters to help with the reader.
